The importance of the sound level of your devices
There are many factors that determine the comfort of a home, natural light, temperature, ventilation, spaciousness … but one of the most decisive is sound level and environmental noise.
What do we call noise?
A noise is generally a confusing and annoying sound, repetitive or continuous, generally unpleasant and, above all, unwanted. Depending on its intensity and duration, noise can even affect our health. It can cause hearing loss, stress, communication problems, poor performance and sleep disturbances among other things. Sound is measured in decibels and it is important to know its magnitude, since it is something with which we are not familiar, so we bring you this small comparison
- 0 db. It is the threshold of hearing, silence.
- From 0 to 10 dB. Faint, almost imperceptible levels of sound, such as calm breathing
- 10 to 20 dB. Very low sound level such as whispers or footsteps.
- 20 to 30 dB The noise level is low. Empty rooms isolated from the outside, such as libraries or recording studios.
- From 30 dB to 40 dB Moderate noise, calm waves in the sea, a conversation at a natural tone of voice.
- From 40 dB to 50 dB Ambient noise. An office or a room with people.
- 50 dB to 60 dB The noise level is a bit high. Traffic on a busy street, the average volume of a television.
- 60 dB to 70 dB High level noise. A group of people talking very loudly, the ringing of a telephone.
- From 70 dB to 80 dB Very high noise level. From 75dB the noise can start to cause damage. The traffic of a city, a shouting conversation.
- 80 dB to 90 dB Noise is harmful in long exposures. Ambulance sirens, the noise of a construction site
- dB to 100 dB This is a noise level that causes continuous discomfort and damage. A fire brigade siren a short distance away, a traffic jam with vehicle horns.
- 100 dB to 120 dB This is a risk level. A jackhammer within walking distance, a music concert.
- More than 120 decibels. Pain appears and there is a risk of hearing loss. An intense explosion.
- 180 dB The takeoff of a spaceship.
- Levels above 180 dB. They can cause death
On many occasions we have so internalized this environmental noise that we are not aware that it is there until it disappears. Good insulation can free us from outside sounds level, but how can we avoid noise inside our own home?
Put music to your life
Substituting a sound for a more pleasant one is a good solution to get out of trouble. This option does not eliminate the annoyance it may cause, but it does make it more pleasant. It involves increasing the number of decibels to be able to mask it, and it is still a false coverage of the problem, but at least it is a sound of your choice and you can enjoy it dancing.
Find the ideal time of use of the devices
Naptime is not the ideal time to put on a noisy washing machine, just as we do not want an air conditioner whose humming noise bothers us at night. If we have no choice, the central hours of the morning and the last hours of the afternoon are the best to disturb as little as possible. Again, we do not end the problem, but we reduce the annoyance it may cause.
Minimize the sound waves that reach you
With the distance and, above all, with walls and obstacles in between, you can achieve that the amount of sound level that reaches you is less. Decoration can play an important role since objects such as shelves full of books, rugs, and curtains can muffle noise and provide you with a greater sense of silence.
Look for the best solution
All the above options are fine, but we are not convinced. They do not end the problem, they only cover it, so at Haverland we want to propose a much more effective answer to your problems with noise. By making a correct selection of the appliances and appliances that you have at home, you will achieve that silence that you deserve for your peace of mind. All of our devices are silent and will create a nice atmosphere while you are at a comfortable temperature.
